On Tuesday, September 12th 2017 Mackay Regional Council (MRC) staff and Pioneer Catchment Landcare (PCL) volunteers adventured to the recently redeveloped Lambert’s Beach Lookout to plant the adjacent hillside. Lambert’s beach lookout is a popular whale-watching site for tourists and locals. Last year, Native Plants Queensland-SGAP Mackay Branch alongside MRC staff and volunteers coordinated a plant salvage to identify and remove natives that could be replanted or propagated. These same groundcovers were planted on September 12th, thus returning these local native species to this particular area of Slade Point. Irene Champion of Native Plant Queensland attended the planting morning, which saw many volunteers on the day.
