The Regional Landcare Facilitator (RLF) programme is made up of a national network which involves facilitators in each of Australia’s 56 natural resource management regions. They work to support Landcare and production groups to adopt sustainable farm and land management practices, and to protect Australia’s landscape.
The programme has facilitated the horticulture and forestry working groups to develop draft ABCD sustainability frameworks for their respective industry, while also providing input to the fisheries and horticulture working groups. These working groups include community and industry members.
The Landcare Facilitator works with industry to understand what assistance they require and provides focused events, training opportunities and support for groups including landcare groups, councils and any other land holders. The Landcare Facilitator aims to increase knowledge, influence the standard of practice, encourage networking and generally support community leaders to encourage best practice natural resource management while increasing production. Innovative trials and projects often stem from this program.
