Tourism operators in the Whitsundays educate tourists and provide information on the reef and its conservation. The Eye on the Reef Program and Ap is promoted by operators with many sightings being then added into the GBRMPA database by visitors to the region. Staff and visitors often participate in community group initiatives including Eco Barge Clean Ups and monitoring programs.
